The Asian IT Case Series (AITCS) is a web-based publication of teaching cases centered around IT management and based on rigorous research conducted with real Asian firms and government agencies.

The dual mission of this series is to promote the best practices of Asian IT management and to provide teaching and learning materials free-of-charge to educators, students and practitioners around the world, particularly to Asian institutions with limited teaching resources.

To meet this mission, AITCS has the following objectives:

  • To promote the use of Asian IT management case studies in teaching and practice
  • To provide free-of-charge Asian IT management teaching materials to educational institutions worldwide
  • To act as a one-stop portal for case learning, teaching, writing and research

Our cases are crafted to enhance the learning experience for students and practitioners of IT management with rich and relevant domain knowledge from the Asian perspective. Our catalog spans a wide spectrum of IT management themes, including IT-Enabled Organizational Transformation, Enterprise Systems, and E-Government. For educators, each case is accompanied by instructional materials such as comprehensive teaching notes and presentations to enrich the learning environment.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB): Implementing Knowledge Management

The ADB is a multilateral development financial institution owned by 66 members, 47 from the Asia and Pacific region and 19 from other parts of the globe. Throughout the 1990s, the ADB faced numerous challenges and took on new, complex policy initiatives, culminating in the adoption of the Poverty Reduction Strategy in 1999. The strategy made poverty reduction ADB's overarching goal and defined the strategic objectives for the organization that would guide all future strategies including the Knowledge Management (KM) strategy. This case describes ADB's KM strategy and its implementation.
